What is home dog boarding and how is it different from kennels?
Home dog boarding means your dog stays in a carer's family home rather than a kennel run. At Comfy Paws your dog sleeps indoors, joins our daily walks, and keeps their normal feeding and rest routine alongside a small number of other dogs. Kennels house each dog in an individual run instead, which suits dogs who are uncomfortable around other dogs but is a bigger change for a dog used to living as part of a family.

How much does dog boarding and daycare cost in Basildon?
Overnight home boarding starts from £34 per night and daycare from £25 per day. That includes daily walks, meals to your dog's normal routine, garden access, and regular photo updates. Discounts are available for more than one dog from the same household and for longer stays of seven nights or more.
What are your daycare hours?
Daycare runs seven days a week, typically from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Flexible drop-off and pick-up outside those hours can usually be arranged in advance.
Do you provide overnight dog boarding?
Yes. Your dog stays overnight in our family home in Basildon, sleeping indoors and following as close to their usual routine as possible, with daily walks and photo and video updates sent to you while you are away. Stays run from a single night up to several weeks.
Do all dogs need to be friendly with other dogs?
Yes. All dogs must be comfortable and relaxed around other dogs and children. Our own family dog, Walter, is always here, and we often care for several dogs at once. If you are unsure whether your dog is suitable, get in touch and we will arrange a free meet and greet to see how they get on.
What vaccinations does my dog need before boarding?
Your dog needs to be up to date with their core vaccinations, and kennel cough vaccination is strongly recommended for any dog mixing with others. Flea and worming treatment should also be current. Bring your vaccination record to the meet and greet so we can check the dates cover your booking.
How far in advance should I book?
For ordinary weeks, two to three weeks' notice is usually enough. School holidays and bank holidays need six to eight weeks, and Christmas and New Year should be booked by early October. New dogs also need a meet and greet before their first stay, so allow extra time for a first booking.
What safety measures do you have in place?
We are trained in pet first aid, we keep group sizes small so every dog gets personal attention, and our house and garden are fully secured and cleaned daily. We have 24/7 access to emergency veterinary care and keep detailed emergency contact details for every dog in our care.
Can you look after dogs with special needs or medication?
Yes. We have experience with medication administration, special diets, mobility support, and dogs who need extra behavioural care. We agree a written care plan with you at the meet and greet before the stay begins.
What should I pack for my dog's stay?
Bring your dog's usual food and bowls, any medication with clear instructions, their bed or blanket, a favourite toy, and their lead and harness. Familiar bedding that smells of home helps a lot with settling in on the first night.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours' notice for daycare cancellations and 48 hours for overnight boarding. Emergency cancellations are handled case by case — we would rather be flexible, and we just need enough notice to plan around it.
