About Comfy Paws Dog Boarding Essex

A family home in Basildon where dogs stay as part of the household — not a kennel block. Run by Javier Farre and family, with a small number of dogs at a time so every one gets proper attention.

Who looks after your dog

I'm Javier, and I've been caring for dogs for over ten years. It started with my own rescue dog, Xina, who taught me most of what I know about patience and reading a dog properly. Comfy Paws is run from our family home in Basildon — my family are involved every day, and our own dog, Walter, is always here.

Because Walter lives here and we often have a few dogs at once, every dog who stays needs to be relaxed around other dogs and around children. If you're not sure, we'll find out together at the meet and greet rather than on the first night.

How home boarding is regulated

Home boarding for dogs is a licensed activity in England under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018, administered by the local council — Basildon Borough Council in this borough. Whoever you are considering, ask them about their licensing status and check it covers the dates of your stay.

How we keep dogs safe

Small group sizes, a fully secure house and garden, pet first aid training, and 24/7 access to emergency veterinary care. We take detailed emergency contacts and vet details for every dog before their first stay.
