Use the Meet and Greet Properly

A free meet and greet is standard, and it is not a formality. It is your chance to see the actual home, watch how the boarder is with your dog, and see how your dog reacts to them. Bring your dog. Watch whether the boarder gives them space to explore rather than crowding them, and whether they ask you real questions about routine, diet, and behaviour.

It is also the moment to be honest about anything difficult — reactivity, resource guarding, separation anxiety, noise sensitivity. A boarder who knows can plan around it. A boarder who finds out on day two cannot.
